Finding a breeder with puppies for sale

The ideal dog for one person is not necessarily the ideal dog for another. The dog breed profiles are designed not only to inform you about a dog breed but also to provide information that will help you select the best breeds based on your lifestyle.

Puppy-mill dogs
are often in poor health and tend to be nervous, distrustful and hard to train, and may develop behavior problems that they can never be overcome, even by the most patient, loving owner. Do not purchase puppies for sale from a known puppy mill.

Pet Stores puppies
Many people stroll through malls, glance up at the puppies for sale just the right moment, and fall in love with a puppy in the pet-store window. While pet shops are a great place to buy food, toys and other pet-related essentials, they are not your best bet for a four-legged family members.

Many pet stores buy their puppies from puppy mills, not reputable kennels. Breeding dogs en masse for profit (and not much else), puppy mills usually keep dogs in, inhumane conditions, with cages crammed together, no socialization of dogs with each other or with humans, and poor cleaning and feeding conditions.

If you have your eye on a specific dog breed, and you've done the research to ensure that you can handle all its behavioral and physical tendencies including shedding and exercise needs, you should take the time to search our puppies for sale. Some people feel that dog breeders are a big part of the pet overpopulation problem, in that a kennels puppies just ends up in shelters or for sale in a pet stores. However, reputable dog breeders are very concerned with the welfare of their puppies. They will try to find good homes for the puppies, and sometimes even raise unsold dogs themselves.

Any reputable dog breeder will have official, documented proof of the puppies' immunization and pedigree records.

Caring breeders
usually require that buyers sign an official contract. It helps to educate the new owner as to the puppy's needs, and it typically includes clauses that forbid further dog breeding without the breeder's permission; forbid the puppy's sale, abandonment or transfer of ownership; ensure the puppy's spaying or neutering; and offer a return or refund if the pup either develops a hereditary illness or disease within the first year, or if the new owner can no longer care for him.

Before you visit any kennels, it's a good idea to prepare yourself with a list of questions.

You should expect an inspection yourself. Remember that upstanding breeders will have a discerning eye and the pups are more than products and profits to them so be prepared to answer some questions about yourself and your intended commitment to your new family member.
